CE101

Description

This course, under the Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS), provides comprehensive training for construction electricians, focusing on installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in construction projects. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience in wiring, circuit installation, troubleshooting, and safety practices, preparing them for roles in the construction and infrastructure sectors. The course aligns with the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and complies with the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Objectives

  • Install electrical wiring, circuits, and equipment in compliance with building codes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in construction-related systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Adhere to safety standards and regulations during installation and maintenance tasks.

Schedule

The course spans 8 weeks, combining basic training and on-the-job practical training as per ATS guidelines. Each week focuses on specific skills essential for construction electricians. Below is the detailed breakdown:

Week 1: Introduction to Electrical Systems

Overview of construction electrician roles, electrical fundamentals, safety protocols, and tools under ATS.

Week 2: Blueprint Reading and Electrical Codes

Understanding electrical blueprints, symbols, and compliance with Indian Electrical Rules and IS codes.

Week 3: Wiring and Circuit Installation

Installing conduits, cables, and wiring for single-phase and three-phase systems in construction sites.

Week 4: Electrical Equipment Installation

Setting up switches, sockets, circuit breakers, and distribution boards in buildings.

Week 5: Troubleshooting Electrical Systems

Diagnosing and repairing faults in wiring, circuits, and electrical equipment using testing tools.

Week 6: Earthing and Safety Systems

Installing earthing systems and safety devices like ELCBs and MCBs to prevent electrical hazards.

Week 7: Maintenance and Quality Control

Performing preventive maintenance, inspecting installations, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Week 8: Final Project and Assessment

Additional Notes

Apprentices must be at least 14 years old and meet the minimum educational qualification (typically 10th grade passed or equivalent, preferably with a science background, as per trade requirements). The course includes basic training (20-25% of the program) and on-the-job training, with a stipend provided as per NAPS guidelines (e.g., Rs. 7700 per month for one-year ITI trade passed apprentices, as per Gazette notification dated 25th September 2019). Successful completion leads to the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) upon passing the All India Trade Test (AITT), recognized for employment in government and private sectors. The training emphasizes practical skills in electrical installations and safety, addressing the high demand for skilled electricians in India’s construction industry.
