Schedule

Week 1: Introduction to Cargo Handling

Overview of the logistics and transportation industry, role of cargo handlers, workplace safety, and introduction to cargo types and handling tools.

Week 2: Cargo Handling Techniques

Manual handling techniques, stacking, and securing cargo to prevent damage.

Week 3: Material Handling Equipment

Operating forklifts, pallet trucks, and other equipment, with emphasis on safety and maintenance.

Week 4: Cargo Documentation

Understanding bills of lading, airway bills, and inventory records for cargo tracking.

Week 5: Safety and Regulatory Compliance

Learning workplace safety protocols, hazardous material handling, and compliance with customs and port regulations.

Week 6: Warehouse Operations

Managing cargo in warehouses, including loading, unloading, and inventory management.

Week 7: Quality Control and Damage Prevention

Inspecting cargo for damage, ensuring proper packaging, and maintaining quality standards.

Week 8: Final Project and Assessment

Completion of a comprehensive cargo handling project and preparation for the All India Trade Test (AITT) under NCVT.

Assessment Methods

Apprentice performance is evaluated through a combination of practical, theoretical, and participatory components, preparing them for the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC):
