Description

This course, under the Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS), provides comprehensive training for formwork technicians, focusing on constructing, assembling, and dismantling formwork systems for concrete structures in construction projects. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience in using materials like timber, steel, and aluminum, ensuring structural stability and safety, preparing them for roles in construction and infrastructure sectors. Objectives

Schedule

The course spans 8 weeks, combining basic training and on-the-job practical training as per ATS guidelines. Each week focuses on specific skills essential for formwork technicians. Below is the detailed breakdown:

Week 1: Introduction to Formwork

Overview of formwork in construction, technician roles, safety protocols, and introduction to tools and materials under ATS.

Week 2: Formwork Materials and Tools

Understanding materials (timber, steel, aluminum, plywood) and tools for formwork construction.

Week 3: Blueprint Reading and Planning

Interpreting formwork blueprints, specifications, and planning formwork layouts for concrete structures.

Week 4: Formwork Assembly

Assembling formwork for slabs, beams, columns, and walls, ensuring alignment and stability.

Week 5: Concrete Pouring and Formwork Stability

Preparing formwork for concrete pouring, checking for leaks, and ensuring structural integrity during curing.

Week 6: Formwork Dismantling

Safely dismantling formwork systems post-curing, cleaning, and storing materials for reuse.

Week 7: Safety and Quality Control

Implementing safety measures, inspecting formwork for defects, and ensuring compliance with IS codes (e.g., IS 456).

Week 8: Final Project and Assessment

Completion of a comprehensive formwork construction project and preparation for the All India Trade Test (AITT) under NCVT.

Assessment Methods

Apprentice performance is evaluated through a combination of practical, theoretical, and participatory components, preparing them for the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC):
