    • Dental Laboratory Equipment Technicians have a wide scope of Employability ranging from self-employment, contractual employment to Full Time jobs.

    Trades Summery: 

    Semester- I

    • i) Identify the basic safety of occupational health process and differentiate between the various responsibilities of the dental team in providing dental treatment.
    • ii) Weigh various metals and alloys used in dental laboratory and also measure temperature and monitor its effects in dental laboratory.
    • iii) Establishes relevance of melting point of different alloys used in dental laboratories.
    • iv) Apply accurate voltage system required to operate various machines with electrical safety.
    • v) Select various alloys as per requirement for fabrication of dental prosthesis.
    • vi) Manipulate and use gypsum products efficiently and dental cement effectively.
    • vii) Manipulates and uses dental waxes and impression materials and uses dental based materials effectively.
    • viii) Make diagnostic and master casts, special trays and occlusal runs and articulates casts.
    • ix) Perform teeth setting.
    • x) Plan and process the denture and also repair broken denture and reline the denture.
    • xi) Identify and select wires and fabricates retentive components of orthodontic appliances and make retractive components of orthodontic appliances.
    • xii) Make active components of orthodontic appliances and prosthesis orthodontic appliances.

     

    Semester- II

    • xiii) Carve various maxillary anterior teeth, mandibular anterior teeth, maxillary premolar, mandibular premolar, maxillary molars and mandibular molars.
    • xiv) Duplication of casts.
    • xv) Identify and apply various concepts of occlusion in all dental casts
    • xvi) Identify partial denture classification, construct immediate dentures and construct removable partial dentures and also survey the removable partial denture.
    • xvii) Prepare appropriate retention features in removable partial dentures.
    • xviii) Identify the fixed components of orthodontic appliances and fabricate oral screen, activator and weld appliances.

     

    Semester-III

    • xix) Fabricate temporary acrylic jacket crowns.
    • xx) Prepare various cast, die for fixed partial denture, full metal crown and full metal bridges.

     

    Semester- IV

    • xxi) Familiarize with equipment used in fixed prosthodontics and mock up of anterior crowns.
    • xxii) Fabricate copings and prepare die.
    • xxiii) Fabricate porcelain fused to metal crown.

Schemes for Training

  • CTS

    CRAFTSMEN TRAINING SCHEME(CTS)

    The Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) was introduced by the Government of India in year 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the domestic industry, to raise quantitatively and qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among the educated youth by providing them employable skills, to cultivate and nurture a technical and industrial attitude in the minds of younger generation. The Scheme is the most important in the field of Vocational Training, has been shaping craftsmen to meet the existing as well as future manpower need, through the vast network of ITIs spread over various States / Union Territories in the country. The day-to-day administration of ITIs under the Craftsmen Training Scheme was transferred to the State Governments/ Union Territory administrations with effect from the year 1956. From 1st April 1969, the financial control of the Industrial Training Institutes in the States as well as in the Union Territories was transferred to the respective State Governments / Union Territory. The financial assistance was granted to them in the form of bulk grant in consultation with the erstwhile Planning Commission and the Ministry of Finance.

    Vocational Training is a concurrent subject of both Central and State Governments. The development of training schemes at National level, the evolution of policy, laying of training standard, norms, conducting of examinations, certification, etc. are the responsibilities of the central government, whereas, day to day administration including an admission in ITIs rests with the respective State Governments / UTs.

    Presently, training courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme are being offered through a network of 15,042 ITIs (Govt. 2,738 + Private 12,304) located all over the country with total trainees enrolled 22.82 lakhs (in the trades of 1 year and 2 year durations) on NCVTMIS portal with an objective to provide skilled workforce to the industry in 138 NSQF compliant trades.
